BERUTTI PIETRO

LA SPINONA

BRICCO FASET

Barbaresco

Piedmont, Italy

(Only 350 cases imported)

Varietals:

100% Nebbiolo

Tasting Notes:

What a value! This small production wine is sourced from Nebbiolo vineyards wedged between Gaja's famous Sori Tilden and Sori San Lorenzo. Subtle earth and smoke with elegant nuances of tobacco fill the glass with undertones of dark cherry and berry. On the palate, dark cherry flavors, tar and sweet balanced oak give this full bodied wine power with a surprising amount of elegance. This gem drinks like it has been aged for a decade and could easily be cellared for 5+ years. Enjoy with grilled meats, rich stews and cheeses.

La Spinona Barbaresco
Pedigree And Pricing From Piedmont's 100 Pt Vintage

— LIMITED AVAILABILITY

($38.00 per bottle / $387.60 per case) What a bargain and what a vintage! The 2000 vintage in Piedmont received a perfect 100 points from Wine Spectator. From that vintage we have found a true gem whose Barbaresco property sits between Gaja's famous Sori Tilden and Sori San Lorenzo vineyards but at a fraction of Gaja's prices.
The 2000 La Spinona Barbaresco has been on our radar of wines to feature but couldn't because there has never been enough quantity of the wine to satisfy the typical demand for our recommendations. Recently, however, the winery re-released the wines kept in their cellars and we snatched them all up and here's why: subtle earth, tobacco and burning leaf aromas fill the glass with undertones of dark cherry and berry. On the palate, dark cherry flavors, tar and sweet balanced oak give this full bodied wine power with a surprising amount of elegance. Rich silky tannins and hints of spice provide a long lasting finish.
Good Barbaresco is hard to find at this price, especially with this wine's pedigree. Not to mention, this Italian diamond in the rough drinks like it has already been aged for a decade and could easily be cellared for an additional 5+ years. A mere 350 cases are imported into the United States each year. Pair this Piedmont red with steak, grilled meats of any kind, rich cheeses and stews. Enjoy! Order Here.
