The previous vintage, the 2002 vintage, was an off vintage in Tuscany due to excessive rain forcing most Brunello producers to skip production of the 2002 vintage. As a result, there has been a huge supply and demand imbalance for the wines. The 2003 Brunellos have just been released and enthusiasts are making up for lost time.
    Ciacci is one of the finest and most sought after Brunello di Montalcino producers in Tuscany and we were fortunate enough to get an early sample of his 2003 estate grown Brunello - Bravissimo! Due to the warmth of the 2003 vintage, the wine displays beautiful full bodied dark fruit with hints of red currant, raspberries and cherries as well as a touch of mushroom, leather and tabacco. The beauty of this vintage is that while the wines can be cellared for a decade, the warm weather growing season allows for enjoying the wine a touch younger than usual.
