Breggo Cellars

Savoy Vineyard

Anderson Valley

California

[90 pts Robert Parker]

[Only 425 cases made]

Varietals:

100% Chardonnay

Tasting Notes:

Mineral notes reminiscent of the finest white Burgundies, Breggo offers notes of lemon blossom and white peaches. Mild wood is evident in this medium to full-bodied effort with crisp acidity as well as a refreshing, pure style. The nose constantly evolves, as aromas of Granny Smith apples and lemon zest mingle with rich smoky toast. Hints of flint and quince appear only to shift into the sweet smell of orange blossom. If you favor a full bodied Chardonnay that has balance and isn't overpowered by an over-the-top buttery richness, this is a must have. Pair with lobster, shrimp and chicken. Enjoy!

Breggo Cellars, Savoy Vineyard
Kistler And Kongsgaard Should Be Jealous

— LIMITED AVAILABILITY —

($41.75 per bottle / $425.85 per case) The hottest new wine region in California is the Anderson Valley. At an elevation of 1200 feet, it is one of the coolest microclimates in California. The untapped potential here for Burgundian varietals (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay) is attracting well known and established producers who crave the elegance produced by the cool nights and moderately warm days. With slopes too steep, soil too thin and climates too cold for other types of intensive agriculture, grape vines flourish here where the domesticated meets the wilderness.
One standout from the wines we've tasted from this region is the 2006 Breggo Cellars Savoy Vineyard. This delicious Chardonnay reveals beautiful weight and personality without the cloying oak and exorbitant price of many of the cult-like California Chardonnays. Undertones of minerals and citrus notes reminiscent of the finest white Burgundies are complimented by notes of lemon blossoms and white peaches. Mild wood is evident in this medium to full-bodied effort with crisp acidity as well as a refreshing, pure style. If you favor a full bodied Chardonnay that has balance and isn't overpowered by an over-the-top buttery richness, this is a must have.
This is only the second vintage of this Medocino champ. The 2006 vintage yielded less grapes than past vintages and with a smaller 2007 on the way, this wine, like other cult Chardonnays, will go up in price. A wine to enjoy now or over the next 7 years of cellaring. Pair with lobster, shrimp, and chicken. Enjoy! Order Here.
