LE POTAZZINE

Gorelli

Rosso di Montalcino

Tuscany, Italy

Varietals:
100% Sangiovese
(Brunello)

[250 cases imported]

Tasting Notes:

A little lighter in profile than a Brunello, this Rosso (early harvest Brunello), shows characteristics of - dare we say - a rustic Pinot Noir. It is smooth and elegant without the formal structure of its big brother Brunello. Aromas of plum, blueberry and dark cherry fill the glass. The palate reveals a dry tannin that is a welcome complement to the rich, fruit forward dark berry flavors. This delicious red is as at home in the dining room as it is on the porch. It has the structure to age for 5 + years, but can be opened now and enjoyed with any grilled foods, cheese, and light meaty pasta dishes. Enjoy!

Le Potazzine, Gorelli
Once In 100 Years For This Baby Brunello!

— LIMITED AVAILABILITY —

($28.85 per bottle / $346.20 per case) Get ready, 2006 may have been the most ideal growing season Tuscany has seen in over 100 years! Unfortunately, the winemaking laws in Montalcino don't allow Brunellos to be released until 2011 (by law the bottles must be aged for a minimum of 2 years in cask and are typically held about a year or more in bottle before release). So if you are like us and can't wait that long, there is great news. You can enjoy the pleasures of this awesome vintage in the 2006 Le Potazzine Gorelli Rosso di Montalcino.
Rosso di Montalcino is often referred to as a "Baby Brunello" because it is esssentially an early harvest Brunello. We selected this Rosso from a recent Tuscan tasting and after swishing and swirling through some of the greatest producers, we singled this wine out as one where quality, integrity, and price convened. It is smooth and elegant without the formal structure of its big brother Brunello which makes it perfect for the upcoming warmer weather. Aromas of plum, blueberry and dark cherry fill the glass. The palate reveals a dry tannin that is a welcome complement to the rich, fruit forward dark berry flavors.
Robert Parker has called Gorelli "a tour de force in winemaking!" This delicious red is as at home in the dining room as it is on the porch. It has the bones of a fine wine and structure to age for 5 + years, but can surely be opened now and enjoyed with any grilled foods, cheese, and light meaty pasta dishes. Enjoy! Order Here.
