SCHULZ
"Benjamin"
Barossa Valley, Australia
Varietals:
100% Shiraz
- 92 pts Robert Parker -
Tasting Notes:
Fewer than 350 cases of this little gem are imported each year. Benjamin Shiraz offers abundant blueberry, blackberry and plum fruit. It has an unctuous texture, supple tannins, and beautiful purity as well as lengthy acidity. As the wine opens, it reveals mocha and toffee flavors. Enjoy it over the next 7-8 years. The fruit from this winery is the source of the famous Torbreck wines. Not to mention, 15% of this particular wine contains the famous Run-Rig fruit. Enjoy this special small production wine that has huge value and quality.

Schulz "Benjamin" Shiraz
Small Production, Huge Quality!
— LIMITED QUANTITIES —
($29.75 per bottle / $357.00 per case) Australian Shiraz fans take note of this gem that packs a huge Shiraz punch. We were waiting to feature an Australian Shiraz until we found one that really stood out. And here it is, the Schulz Winery. Fewer than 350 cases of this Aussie red were imported into the United States. Surprisingly, this little known winery is the source of fruit for the incredibly famous Torbreck Winery and both share the same famous winemaker, David Powell, who Robert Parker said is "unquestionably one of the world's finest wine producers." Not only is the value in the pedigree of this wine, but 15% of the grapes in this blend comes from the famous Run-Rig Vineyard. (As a reference point, Torbreck's Run-Rig received 99 pts last vintage from Parker and 96 pts or better in each of the three proceeding vintages. Those wines are valued at approximately $215.00 per bottle.)
Schulz Benjamin has a classic Shiraz nose of deep blueberry, blackberry and raspberry. On the palate it is full bodied and weighty with an opulent, voluptuous elegance. It displays superb fruit balance with great acidity on the finish. As the wine opens, it reveals flavors of toffee and mocha. Do not expect overpowering tannins in this wine because they don't exist. Instead, the wine has a plush mouthfeel of plum and dark cherry and soft silky tannins. This is a great value Shiraz and delicious quaffer that can easily be paired with grilled foods of any kind or simply stand on its own. Enjoy! Order Here.
