- 93 pts Wine Spectator -

"Highly Recommended"
June 2007 Edition

Varietals:
Blend of
Zinfandel 48%, Cabernet
Sauvignon 26%, Syrah 14%,
Petite Sirah 10%, and Charbono 2%

Tasting Notes:

The June 2007 Wine Spectator put this wine on the "Highly Recommended" list. That's because it is "a delicious wine, offering zesty wild berry, spice and fresh tobacco, with focused and well structured blackberry flavors. Plush, rich, and concentrated, with wonderful focus." Creamy vanilla, coffee, toffee and black tea notes are balanced by pomegranate and raspberry. Drink now through 2011 and enjoy with any barbecued meats, rich roasts and cheese.

Orin Swift Cellars, The Prisoner
Zinfandel Fans Will Love This Blend Out Of Napa

— LIMITED QUANTITIES

[$30.50 per bottle / $366.00 per case] During the week, our friends kept calling demanding a repeat of last week's football eating and drinking extravaganza, so we did it all over again this past weekend. Though the venue changed, we were still the point people for food and wine decisions. We orchestrated a feast of barbecued ribs and chicken with the 2005 'The Prisoner,' by Orin Swift Cellars, a Napa Valley gem that can stand up to grilled meat flavors, but delicate and smooth enough to enjoy on its own. Not to mention, nothing says barbecue more than a California Zinfandel.
What's special about this particular Zinfandel is that it has a healthy dose of Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and small portions of Syrah and Petite Sirah for depth and added flavor. The nose of this delicious wine is sweet ripe dark berry fruit that is quietly smoky and reveals plum and blackberry scents. On the palate it is every bit as desirable with creamy vanilla, coffee, toffee and black tea notes which are balanced by pomegranate and raspberry. The finish is lingering and never less than silky; savory tea and toast notes keep the wine's fruitiness from overpowering the nuances. And if that weren't enough, the wine received 93 points from the Wine Spectator putting it on their "Highly Recommended" list in June 2007. This wine strikes a terrific balance for Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel lovers evidenced by the accolades the wine received all afternoon and evening. Enjoy! Order Here.
