CLOS MIMI

Petite Rousse

Paso Robles, CA

Varietals:

100% Syrah

Tasting Notes:

Robert Parker called this wine "an excellent bargain" and "very Crozes-Hermitage like." Petite Rousse offers sweet red cherry and darker currant notes with some tapenade, spice box, and roasted herbs in a supple-textured, delicious, and complex wine. This is a dead ringer for a French northern Rhone. A rich display of dark berry and dark cherry are supported by subtle spice and roasted herb flavors with hints of pepper and smoked meats which are complimented by a long lasting finish of smooth soft tannins. Enjoy now and over the next five years.

Clos Mimi Petite Rousse
Robert Parker Calls This Rhone-Like Syrah "An Excellent Bargain."

— LIMITED AVAILABILITY —

($20.75 per bottle / $211.65 per case) We hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving. If you are like us, you spent the better part of this past Friday on the couch saying to yourself "I'll never eat that much again." But if you are also like us, by 5 p.m. on that same day, you managed to enjoy plenty of leftovers - maybe even with a glass of wine. One wine we thoroughly enjoyed on Thanksgiving Day and the day after was the 2005 Clos Mimi Petite Rousse.
Petite Rousse is 100% Syrah from Paso Robles, California where Syrah grapes thrive in the heat. It is a small production red that drinks like a $50 Crozes-Hermitage displaying nuances that are not typically found at this price point. Robert Parker called the 2005 "an excellent bargain," and we couldn't agree more. The Rhone qualities of this wine paired terrifically with the gaminess of the Thanksgiving turkey and stood up to all of the accompanying side dishes. More elegant than most California Syrahs, this world class Syrah displays aromas of sweet red cherry and dark currant notes. On the palate, a rich display of dark berry and dark cherry are supported by subtle spice and roasted herb flavors. However, the finish is where you'll swear you are drinking a Rhone red — ripe dark fruit with hints of pepper and smoked meats are complimented by a long lasting finish of smooth soft tannins.
Enjoy this California meets Rhone red with meat, chicken, ham or any leftovers you may have in the upcoming month. Enjoy now and over the next five years. Order Here.
