La Spinetta

Starderi, Langhe

Piedmont, Italy

- 90 pts Robert Parker -

Varietals:

100% Nebbiolo

Tasting Notes:

A gorgeous effort redolent of crushed flowers, spices, menthol and sweet fruit. Made in a full-bodied style, it offers outstanding poise and balance, with an inviting, fresh finish. Gorgeous aromas of black cherry, cassis, truffles and mint as well as strawberry, plum, tobacco and kirsch fill the glass. Think Grand Cru Burgundy with a bit more body, structure and sweet tannin. Enjoy with lamb, grilled meats, sliced salami, goose, and cheeses. Drink now or put down for 5 - 8 years.

La Spinetta Nebbiolo Langhe
A Piedmont Wine Fit For Royalty

($26.85 per bottle / $322.20 per case) If Barolo is King and Barbaresco the Queen of Italian wines, then young vine Nebbiolo (the grape varietal that produces both) is the crown Prince.
We are often asked, what is our favorite wine in the store to drink. And while picking just one is impossible, La Spinetta's Nebbiolo Langhe would be at the top of the list of wines that are ready for consumption now, and yet have the pedigree of big-time Barolo and Barbarescos that can be set down for years. In fact, the vines from this delicious red come from the famous Starderi vineyard.
La Spinetta's wines are some of the most respected wines coming out of Italy - they are impeccable. "Readers who want to experience a La Spinetta wine without breaking the bank should start with the 2005 Langhe Nebbiolo. It is a gorgeous effort redolent of crushed flowers, spices, menthol and sweet fruit. Made in a fullbodied style, it offers outstanding poise and balance, with an inviting, fresh finish." [Robert Parker, Jr.] To that you can add luscious aromas of black cherry, cassis, truffles and mint as well as strawberry, plum, tobacco and kirsch all of which fill the glass. Think Grand Cru Burgundy with a bit more body, structure and sweet tannin.
This Italian red offers a great chance to drink the wonders of Barolo and Barbaresco everyday, but at a fraction of the price. You can enjoy drinking this wine by itself, with roasted lamb, cheeses, sliced salami, grilled meats, and goose. Drink now or put down for 5-8 years. Enjoy! Order Here.
