THE REVIEW

Are you looking for a great value everyday drinker? How about a weekday "go to" red that is under $20 and drinks beyond its price point? Look no further than the 2008 Villa Malacari Rosso Conero.
Villa Malacari is a delicious and well balanced Italian red that hails from the Marche region of Italy. It is 100% Montepulciano (the grape, not the region) and comes from the 2008 vintage which saw a spectacular growing season.
Villa Malacari is full bodied, but not extracted. It has fine tannins that are mild and pleasantly integrated. Bordering on rustic, the wine reveals hints of cocoa, plum and cherries. Fantastic aromas of earth (typical of the Montepulciano grape) emanate from the glass - but not so prominent as to limit its versatility. The finish is lasting and has just the right amount of acidity which is a byproduct of the slopes of Mount Conero which receives ample sunshine through the long dry summer, yet offset by cooling breezes from the Adriatic Sea.
This big, hearty, rustic Italian red is perfect for those hassle free nights where you crave the simple pleasures such as pizza or pasta. It is also perfect with cheeses of any kind and pairs terrifically with aged meats. Enjoy! Read More »
