THE REVIEW

You can certainly purchase this Bordeaux by the bottle, but when you read below, you'll understand why it should be bought by the case!
We rarely if ever make such a statement, but Chateau Haut-Gastineau is a special French red. We were reluctant to feature a $12 Bordeaux (a region known for exorbitant price tags) for fear that our customers would assume this truffle was just some ordinary mushroom. But, if you have been following our emails and enjoying our suggestions, then trust us when we say it's worth every penny...and more!
Let's be clear, we are not comparing this little gem to a Lynch-Bages (at $125 per bottle) or a Ducru-Beaucaillou (at $250). In fact, we almost didn't taste this wine and laughed - initially - at its cost. How could such a nuanced and distinct Bordeaux cost less than $25? It almost defies logic. But when we tasted it, we were shocked....really shocked!

And something you don't find in wines at this price, lasting acidity and smooth silky tannins. This is an excellent example of quality and value from Bordeaux. From meats to cheese, this amazing red should be a fixture on your table. And if you want to mix in some stellar white Bordeaux, check out the Sancerre Slayer.
Our final thoughts: buy this by the case!Read More »
