What a value and what a delicious Barbaresco! This is "the finest wine I have tasted from La Spinona in many years."Antonio Gallani, 92 pts Wine Advocate
Quality at this price doesn't come around very often and handily lives up to the region's mystique. This single vineyard Nebbiolo, Bricco Faset, sits wedged between Gaja's famous Sori Tilden and Sori San Lorenzo vineyards (wines that fetch over $450 per bottle). The romance of the region may begin with Gaja, but the wines of La Spinona perpetuate the allure. While we are huge fans of Gaja, we cannot overlook the compelling value of La Spinona's Barbaresco.
"Sweet, candied cherries, mint and flowers show tons of vintage character in its ripe, seductive personality. Firm yet well-integrated tannins support a core of expressive, perfumed fruit in this beautiful Barbaresco." A. GallaniWarm spice flavors offer surprising elegance with wonderful acidity. Rich silky tannins and a welcome grip provide a long lasting finish.
Good Barbaresco is hard to find at this price, especially with this wine's terroir. Not to mention, this Italian diamond in the rough drinks like it has already been aged for a decade and could easily be cellared for an additional 7+ years. A mere 350 cases are imported into the United States each year.
Allow to decant for 15 - 20 minutes. Pair this Piedmont red with game, grilled or cured meats and cheeses. Enjoy!Read More »
