THE REVIEW

When we first tasted this wonderfully exotic Sicilian red, we couldn't believe the flavors that left us yearning for another glass.
"Notes of bold black fruit, prune, tobacco and toasted almond open the rich bouquet of this dense wine." Monica Larner, Wine Enthusiast
While lower elevation Sicilian reds tends to be quite fruit forward, this "Alto" comes from a high elevation, single vineyard. Named after the awesome beauty of the Sicilian hills on which the vineyard rests, this micro-climate at 2,000 feet allows the fruit to ripen more gradually, adding an aspect of elegance and finesse that you rarely find in a Sicilian red. Nero d'Avola thrives in the hearty Mediterranean sunshine, while the cool nights lock in the beautiful fruit flavors and add crisp acidity.
This dry - yes dry - Nero d'Avola by Rapitala is quite sultry yet versatile. From pizza, to cured meats, to seared duck breast, this spicy red can easily stand up to grilled flank steak or whatever barbeque cuisine you many fancy.
Enjoy now and over the next five years!Read More »
