A Merchant's Pick

THE REVIEW

Ciacci Piccolomini is one of Italy's most sought after producers. Each year, Ciacci makes some of the finest Brunello di Montalcinos. His wines are always Top 100 contenders; in fact, his wines have claimed the #1 spot in past years.
Today, we are proud to feature Ciacci's single vineyard Pianrosso Brunello. The wine is always in demand for its tremendous flavor and nuance. This incredibly small production wine is a classic Brunello stylistically. The Pianrosso Vineyard is known for its stony slopes. The well drained soils capture the best expression of the estate. Additionally, only the finest grapes from the vineyard go in to the Pianrosso bottling making it even more selective and desirable.
Wine Spectator has called the Ciacci Piccolomini estate, "The Cream Of The Crop." Seldom is there enough of this single vineyard wine available in the United States to make it a featured Merchant's Pick. However, for the first time in several years and with a small window, we have procured enough.

Enjoy now and over the next 10 years.Read More »
