Why is the 2012 Leroy Bourgogne Blanc our #4 wine?
You will not believe the depth and vibrancy of this Chardonnay until you taste it.
It boasts balance, grace and grip - an elusive combination that is rare to find in one wine.
Green apple, lemon custard and Comice pear marry with dynamic acidity that dances on the palate forever! This is a tremendous wine with vibrancy that will allow it to be enjoyed now and another ten years.
All Bourgogne Blancs are not the same!
Leroy's Bourgogne Blanc is a blend of declassified Puligny, Meursault and Savigny grapes. With her appellation specific wines (such as Puligny and Meursault) fetching north of $700 per bottle, her Bourgogne Blanc is a dream for white Burgundy fans.
If you've seen the cover of Wine Spectator, then Leroy needs no introduction. She is one of the top three Burgundy producers. Along with her daughter, Leroy owns 50% of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (widely known as D.R.C.).
Leroy tends to release her wines when she feels they are ready. The current vintage is the dwindling 2012; her next Bourgogne Blanc release will be 2016 and it will be a staggering $40 more per bottle - yes, bottle!
Enjoy now and over the next ten years. We suggest serving this beauty on the warmer side of cold.
