THE REVIEW

The fruit of the 2010 Meroi Nestri is luscious, luscious, luscious. It is a beautiful Bordeaux blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from northern Italy.
If this wine were from Tuscany instead of Friuli, it would be classified as a "Super Tuscan" blend and easily fetch $75 per bottle, rivaling the likes of Tignanello.
"Italy is one of the few wine-producing countries capable of making world-class merlot. Its best merlots rival the best in the world – meaning they can compete with the quality and complexity of the reds of Bordeaux's legendary region of Pomerol." James Suckling
Lovely wild berries, plum, black cherry, cocoa and a hint of smokiness frame the long intoxicating finish. Sweet herb and espresso are some of the notable highlights that take shape in the glass as the wine showcases the amazing wild berries. Floral and spice notes appear later, adding further complexity and nuance. The finish is particularly refined and long lasting.
Quite a pairing with any grilled meat or game, as well as any tomato or meat based pasta. Enjoy now and over the next 7 years.Read More »
