Open a bottle and your room will fill with intoxicating aromas. I know because I open this wine regularly! Here's just a sample of what you can expect:
"Opulent... with grace and precision." James Suckling
"Full-throttle and lavishly chewy, the tannins pucker all sides of the mouth with mesmerizing intensity." Wine Advocate
The only difference between this wine and Dal Forno's flagship Amarone, which fetches $365, is that this Valpolicella Superiore sees 45 days appassimento (grape drying) versus 90 for the flagship red. It is a steal!
Brooding dark berry, cedar, leather, tobacco leaf, clove, fig, cinnamon and earth take over the palate. With broad shouldered fruit and finely grained tannins, the juxtaposition of flavor, structure, richness and finesse will make your toes curl!
"This is a terrific wine that stood out—and stood tall—despite the fact that it was tasted alongside some of Dal Forno's most important vintages of the top-shelf Amarone. If that's not a full-on recommendation, I don't know what is." Wine Advocate
This Valpolicella is very approachable and graceful despite its heft. In fact, we highly recommend enjoying some now even though it can cellar for another 15 years.
Pair with pungent cheeses or your favorite cut of meat - it will make your filet sing and dance! Even a spicy diavolo sauce pairs ideally with this luscious red.
