A Red So Good You May Never Drink Cabernet Again!

By David Gettenberg
You don't find this unique flavor profile in California Cabernets. I'm a huge Cabernet fan, however, this Tempranillo is in a different league. "This is the best vintage in a decade." (Emilio Moro, Owner and Winemaker).
With much anticipation, the 2011 Emilio Moro has arrived. The wines possess a signature and sense of place that California Cabernets can not claim. Call it terroir, call it wine making or call it a combination of both, but as you swirl and sip this amazing red, you cannot deny that Malleolus embodies the best of Ribera del Duero.
Here is why we were so enamored with the 2011 Malleolus: An intense nose of predominantly black fruit is enhanced by aromas of balsamic and singed oak. Outstanding spicy aromas of clove and coffee with mineral and clay elements complete the aromatic experience before the first sip. On the palate it is powerful but reserved, concentrated but not extracted. It is so well-balanced that the secondary notes of spice, black fruit and balsamic reappear on the long lasting, velvety finish.
What pairs with such a fantastic wine? Charcuterie and cheese as well as grilled lamb chops. Add this Spanish stunner to your repertoire of Cabernet Sauvignon - you will not be disappointed now or over the next 10 years. This is one to enjoy now as well as age. Enjoy!
