THE REVIEW

It's cold here in the northeast... which means it is prime Amarone season!
No matter the weather, run to your butcher and get your favorite cut of meat because we have the perfect pairing, Amarone!
Amarone is a process where the grapes of the Valpolicella region are dried like raisins to produce concentrated berries; these berries are then fermented to a rich and wonderfully expressive Italian red that is like no other.
The Mazzi property is a mere 300 meters from the renowned Quintarelli Winery.
Mazzi's 2013 Amarone comes from a warm vintage - one of the finest vintages in years. Amazingly expressive, it is balanced and big. You will be hard pressed to find a better Amarone at this price.
Aromas of dark berry jam, dried flowers, tobacco, dark chocolate and aged leather fill the room. An intriguing nose is divided between plums and black cherries, surround by sweet spices and eucalyptus. Large and supple in the mouth, the wine lasts on the palate and finishes with layers of cherry cola, preserved fruit and earth.
Enjoy with pungent cheeses and/or a spicy diablo tomato sauce with this luscious red.
And, if you are going to run for a steak, you better sprint for some Mazzi.
Enjoy!
