Hardin is one of Napa Valley's best kept secrets, but it won't be for long. Because of the near perfect growing season, the winemaker is calling the 2012 vintage, "One of the best Hardin Cabernets we've produced!"
Like Coca-Cola's treasured formula, Hardin does not reveal the fruit source of a current vintage. However, past vintages have been procured from the famous ToKalon and Dr. Crane's Vineyards and found in such notable producers as Schrader and Paul Hobbs. These single vineyard wines are on the radar of collectors and each fetch in excess of $200 per bottle.
Hardin has attained a cult-like status backed by its perennial quality. It is a full-throttle Napa Cabernet blend and a real overachiever. The Cabernet Sauvignon throws off incredible blackberry and cassis notes with a hint of cedar. A small amount of Malbec offers silky, smooth plum elements. A splash of Petite Verdot adds wonderful hints of leather and sweet tannin and a broad and lengthy finish.
We are confident that once you taste the wine, you too will see that it drinks well beyond its price point. Hardin typically sells out well before its next vintage. Fans in the know buy enough to make it last. Enjoy with your favorite cut of meat and grill, grill, grill. Once you do, you'll understand why we had to share this little secret with you.
