When it comes to California Pinot Noir, no winemaker is more consistent and masterful than Paul Hobbs. He produces "full throttle wines that merit serious attention." (Robert Parker)
We have been champions of Hobbs for years, a testament to his impeccable style and unparalleled craftsmanship. With back to back stellar growing seasons, the 2008 vintage is every bit as good if not better than the 2007 which received 93 points. However, yields were much smaller in 2008 making this wine even more collectible and cherished.
A monumental growing season along with some of the best terroir in all of North America has created a truly impeccable Pinot. Copious sweet forest floor aromas are supported by rich fragrances of plum and black cherry. An added layer of spice and black raspberry are on the nose with hints of dried rose. The wine has a luscious, medium to full-bodied texture, and a long finish with a touch of tobacco and cola. A silky mouth feel, medium-bodied tannins and well-integrated oak complete this symphony in a bottle.
Enjoy now and over the next 7-8 years, but why wait that long? Either way, be sure to set some aside as this wine will continue to develop nicely.
