Sorry, but so little of the newly released 2015 Clio is available. We just received a small drop and we expect it to sell out rather quickly.
Clio, by El Nido, is one of those wines that caught on by wildfire several years ago with its 97 point Parker rating. Prior to that, only a small group of aficionados hoarded it for themselves - including us. After that press, it has been impossible to keep in stock, along with its big brother, El Nido.
So what makes Clio so special and time-tested? What gives it and its Big Brother multiple and consistent mid-to-high 90 point accolades? The warm, consistent micro-climate of Jumilla, Spain forces the old vine Monastrell (also known as Mourvedre) and Cabernet vines to reach deep into the soil. It is a wine that is uniquely smooth yet structured. "Silky" is the word we hear most often when people ask for it.
Rich layers of dark fruit offer roasted coffee and earth notes. It is a full bodied wine - but not overpowering - with great concentration and an extremely long finish.
Enjoy now and save a few for up to 5 years - if you have the willpower.
