THE REVIEW

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it! We painstakingly taste through hundreds of wines throughout the year in search of those that differentiate themselves. Among the delicious rosés we've featured this season, we had to add Premiere de Figueiere to the list.
    Rose petal, orange blossom, citrus and salty minerality on the nose. Medium-bodied, layered, elegant and balanced, "It’s a knockout rosé that will be versatile on the dinner table, yet also drink just fine on a hot summer day. "It’s well worth tracking down." The Wine Advocate
     Besides its amazing flavors, what makes this wine so special? The high Mourvedre content at just over 50%. And what does Mourvedre do to rosé? It makes the wine smooth, smooth smooth - not to mention silky, wonderfully food friendly and versatile.
    I recently enjoyed Premiere de Figueiere with pan seared halibut sauteed with fresh herbs and a dash of butter; for the side, lightly sauteed spinach rounded out the meal. I was surprised at how well the wine balanced the butter yet enhanced the delicate flavors of the soft, flaky fish. Quite an enjoyable meal, this rosé is something special to say the least.
