James Suckling nailed his recent review of the 2017 Antinori Cervaro della Sala by saying it is, "One of the best I have tasted."
How are we so confident?
Because, it is one of the best we have ever tasted as well!
Tignanello may be Antinori's most recognized wine, but, their Cervaro della Sala Chardonnay is one of their most sought-after.
Why?
As Suckling once wrote, this wine is the "Batard-Montrachet of Italy with its amazing depth and compression of beautiful fruit and chalk." James Suckling
What do we love about this wine?
The 2017 Cervaro has tremendous weight and balance. It is a "muscular" wine and rather rich on the palate without being extracted. The fruit is graceful with exotic notes of Bosc pear, green apple, lime, roasted nut and notes of crème brûlée. If you enjoy rich, luxurious Chardonnays yet don't want the heavy oak influence of a California Chard, then Antinori's 2017 Cervaro della Sala is your wine!
This is a fantastic Chardonnay for food pairing, especially as we enter the cooler months of the year.
From seafood to heartier meals, you cannot go wrong. Among our suggestions: roasted chicken with scalloped potatoes... winter squash risotto... fresh pappardelle tossed in a brown butter sauce... the list is endless.
Absolutely delicious!!!
