Savvy California Cabernet fans know to find value in emerging regions such as Paso Robles. "These top-quality releases are a match for the best wines from California’s North Coast.” The Wine Advocate
One of our favorites from Paso Robles is the 2018 Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon, which just landed the lucky #7 spot among Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Wines of 2020.
Customers love this wine for its tremendous value; if it were from Napa Valley, it would retail for $150. But then again, if it were from Napa, it wouldn't have the Paso Robles terroir or charm:
Rich aromas of black currants, ripe black cherries, and blackberries with notes of cedar, clove, violets, mocha, vanilla bean and dried spices. This is a big, modern-styled wine with velvety tannins, gobs of fruit and accents of cedar, clove and vanilla bean.
Paso Robles, one of California’s most pastoral wine growing regions, translates to “Passageway of Oaks, ” where majestic trees outline the landscape. At 2,000 feet, and just 18 miles from the Pacific, the micro-climate allows the fruit to ripen into luxurious richness.
The quality from this region is outstanding - and undervalued!
We are not at all surprised that Austin Hope was in Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 or that it took lucky #7. Nor will our customers who have been enjoying this wine for years.
Enjoy!

"Quite dark in the glass, this reliable crowd-pleaser begins with hearty aromas of black currant, black plum, lush oak and caramel, accented by a hint of olive and loads of clove and nutmeg spice. The mouthfeel is hearty and rich, with just enough tannic weight to balance the creamy black-cherry, caramel and chocolate-ice-cream flavors, which lead to an oaky finish."
