This Puligny-Montrachet is off the charts good.
We've looked, we've sipped, and we've swirled. Few wines impress us more than Jean Louis Chavy. This beautiful white Burgundy has captured our hearts for many years as one of the best expressions of Puligny-Montrachet. The current release is a stunning 2018 vintage, which in Burgundy is considered "one of the greatest ever vintages." Decanter, Tim Atkins
Seamlessly integrated, boasting the best attributes of a much talked about and highly-prized white Burgundy vintage, it has graceful fruit, balanced acidity, and a long finish.
Simply put, it's sublime!
A wave of freshness wafts from the glass revealing citrus blossom, stone fruit, and fresh apple; the aromatics precede a near-perfect palate. Pure and fantastically integrated, no one element pushes or pulls; rather, the flavors and textures effortlessly play off one another. White peach, chalky minerality, blanched almond, Anjou pear, spice and (barely) a hint of vanilla bean present on this endless finish. The warm 2018 vintage lends this particular Puligny to approachability now as well as fifteen years of enjoyment.
Every now and then, we come across a Chardonnay like this one and can't help but utter, "Now that is what a white Burgundy is supposed to taste like."
Extremely limited. We have the lion's share of what was imported, which is not a lot.
We even have a few cases of half bottles (375ml), here.
While supplies last.
