“Outrageous! How did this wine not get 100 points?!”

Outrageous! The Best Ramey We've Ever Tasted!

By David Gettenberg

Awesome!

We can't stop asking ourselves why this wine only received 95 points when two of Ramey's four single vineyard Chardonnays from the same vintage received 100 points.  We have NO idea how Fort Ross - Seaview did not make that list!

What is even more baffling is how David Ramey created a Chardonnay with the elegance of a Puligny- Montrachet, the finesse of a 1er Cru Chablis, and a dollop of classic Sonoma.

"A vibrant, finely cut Chardonnay, the Fort Ross-Seaview bottling is so impressive.”  Vinous

"Just textbook Sonoma Coast goodness.”  Jeb Dunnuck

" A seamless texture, crisp acidity and structured length.”   Wine Enthusiast

If we were to blind taste this wine we would have guessed Burgundy for sure.  Having tasted it a few days ago, it is a standout with its seashells, roasted nut tones, lemon zest, orchard fruit, a hint of white pepper, and a zippy, racy finish that will put a smile on your face.

Fort Ross - Seaview is not only impressive but shows the trend among premier Chardonnay producers in California:  to showcase terroir and the varietal rather than oak and butter.

Pairing such an exquisite white is easy.

A piece of Salmon?  Definitely.

Shellfish? Absolutely.

A wedge of brie? No Brainer.

Each sip is an experience in itself; just try for yourself.

Enjoy!

“A seamless texture, crisp acidity and structured length.”

Wine Enthusiast • 95 / 100

"This is the second year this wine has been made from grapes grown at the Martinelli Charles Ranch, set at high elevation and only two miles from the ocean. Freshly cut pear, anise and integrated oak arise from the glass, highlighting a seamless texture, crisp acidity and structured length."

"The 2018 Chardonnay (Fort Ross-Seaview) pulses with energy. A vibrant, finely cut Chardonnay, the Fort Ross-Seaview bottling is so impressive. Crushed rocks, lemon peel, mint and white pepper are finely cut in this super-expressive, translucent Chardonnay from David Ramey."

“Just textbook Sonoma Coast goodness.”

Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2018 Chardonnay Fort Ross-Seaview is another classic wine, offering ample honeyed orchard and lemon-like fruits, medium-bodied richness, a bright spine of acidity, and a great finish. Just textbook Sonoma Coast goodness, it's ideal for drinking over the coming 5-7 years."
