Does Something Look Different?
The label may be updated but the wine in the recently released 2018 Terre di Tufi Toscana Bianco is absolutely sensaaaaaaational!
You know the story by now: I was introduced to Terre di Tufi sixteen years ago and have been a fan of this delicious white Super Tuscan ever since.
On that night, a wedge of Parmigiano cheese preceded the most incredible grilled swordfish I have ever enjoyed.
Was it the wine?
To this day, I am convinced it was!
Last night I enjoyed the newly released Tufi. It is a classic from a stunning Tuscan vintage. With notes of young green apple, white peach, and tangerine rind, the 2018 is a medium-bodied white with subtle, toasty notes on the finish. The Vernaccia offsets the Chardonnay fruit with youthful and well-balanced acidity and a brightness that makes this Terre di Tufi one of the most enjoyable whites of Italy.
Year after year, Terre di Tufi is among my go-to white wines for almost any occasion - especially in the New Year when I'm inclined to eat more fish and salads after weeks of holiday indulgences.
A household name for locals, it is a beautiful blend of Vernaccia, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc from the hills of Tuscany, and more specifically, the famous town of San Gimignano.
Enjoy this "White Super Tuscan" now and over the next 5 years as one of your core white wines.
