A Whale Of A White!
While you might find a Petit Chablis for $19, it won't taste like this!
That's because Patrick Piuze's Petit Chablis is from the "Petit Preuses" parcel, an exclusive plateau overlooking and butting up against - you guessed it - Chablis' Grand Cru Les Preuses.
Piuze "is a truly thrilling producer of hand-crafted Chablis... I highly recommend trying a few examples of the Piuze wines if your taste runs to pure and completely unadorned classically styled Chablis." Jancis Robinson
Rippling with fresh green apples, white peach, and lemon zest, this aromatic Chardonnay boasts the flinty acidity of the region. Graceful and elegant, it showcases the iconic 2018 vintage. Enjoy now and over the next five years. Pair this wonderful white with seafood of any kind, soft goat cheese, salads, or on its own on a warm day.
The Petit Chablis region (not to be confused with Chablis) overlooks the Grand Cru vineyards of Chablis. Like Chablis, Petit Chablis is a stunning, mineral-driven and refreshing Chardonnay.
However, with Petit Chablis, you get higher elevation fruit and more limestone white soil, which results in a slightly brighter and crisper version of the Chardonnay grape than Chablis.
With only 50 cases imported this year, the return of this brilliant Petit Chablis is going to be short-lived indeed.
Enjoy!
