Just east of the Serin river in Burgundy is a small tributary called Voir. This narrow body of water is all that separates Mont-de-Milieu from Chablis' famed Les Clos Grand Cru vineyard.
With more crushed stone soil than any other 1er Cru Chablis vineyard, Chardonnay from Mont-de-Milieu is unmistakable.
Breathtaking on entry, the 2020 Pinson Chablis is indeed a "classy Mont-de-Milieu." Decanter
"Understated power is evident on the nose. Initially quite reticent, this unfurls with more aeration, developing toasty, spicy characters from maturation in older wood. Lemon and lime zest on the palate keeps everything fresh. A classy Mont de Milieu which will age well for at least three to four years." Decanter
Location. Location. Location.
Mont-de-Milieu is considered one of the finest Premier Cru vineyards sites in Chablis. It is a "continuation of and same exposure as the band of Grand Crus and a stone’s throw from Les Clos." Tim Atkins
We have often said Chablis is one of the best values out of Burgundy. It offers clean, precise flavors with very little oak influence. Somehow, given their quality, the finest Chablis are still priced at a fraction of other Premier Cru and Grand Cru Burgundy regions.
With Burgundy prices on the rise, it is no wonder Domaine Pinson took our #2 Pick Of The Year!
"Bravo." Jasper Morris
"Bright pale lemon colour. The bouquet shows the oak a little more, having been vinified in part in barrel. Integrates very well mind you. Very complete, greater intensity, just the right acidity, and the marine tension we are looking for. Light biscuit at the back from the barrel. This is a Chablis that needs keeping but will be excellent. Bravo."
Burghound Outstanding
"A cool, pure and airy nose features notes of white flowers, pear, passion fruit, quinine and a very subtle application of wood. The juicy and fleshy medium-bodied flavors are solidly concentrated with good minerality and power on the complex, long and well-balanced finale. This very dry and consistently fine wine is potentially outstanding and just in need of a few years of cellaring."
