When most people think of domestic Cabernet Sauvignon, they tend to think of Napa Valley Cabernet. But Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington may
very well be some of the greatest value domestic reds being produced today.
The 2011 Nelms Road Cabernet Sauvignon is the younger vines and second label of the heralded Woodward Canyon Winery. This second label boasts much of the charm and pedigree of its big brother. After tasting it, you will realize what we have, that the wine has great structure, ripe fruit, balance and length. The only thing missing is the $50 price tag you would find in Napa Valley for similar quality.
We even tasted this wine alongside Woodward Canyon's highly acclaimed flagship wines and Artist Series. While all the Woodward Canyon wines are delicious,
we couldn't help but isolate the 2011 Nelms Road as the standout of the group for its overall performance and value.
Enticing aromas of black fruits, tea, dark chocolate, exotic spices, tobacco, and graphite fill the glass. Dark in color, the wine offers sweet blackberry fruit, ripe mature tannins and a long generous finish. The wine is in beautiful proportion.
Enjoy this standout as your everyday Cabernet now and over the next five years.
