Few wines ignite as much excitement as a Clio or El Nido release.
This is the 2016 El Nido, Clio's big brother and the flagship bottling from Bodegas El Nido.
While Clio is a blend of mostly Mourvedre and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, El Nido is the reverse: mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Mourvedre. Only the best fruit from the vineyards goes into El Nido.
If El Nido were from Napa Valley, it would easily sell for $250 per bottle. This is some of the best value Cabernet Sauvignon you will enjoy from any wine region and price.
The predominant Cabernet gives the wine a bit more structure than Clio and the Mourvedre gives this wine Clio’s hallmark silky finish. It is big and rich and, "for those who like this profile, this could very well be the finest vintage of El Nido to date." The Wine Advocate
If you’ve hesitated to pull the trigger on El Nido in the past because of its $125 price, take advantage of this one-day special!

$124.95 per bottle / $1499.40 per case

"The 2016 El Nido is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Monastrell, the reverse percentages of Clio. The vinification and élevage are the same: it starts in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and finishes in French and American oak barriques, where the wine matured for some 23 months. I was quite pleasantly surprised by this 2016, as I expected a weaker wine that would show the élevage more, but I found a juicy palate and the oak was quite integrated. The tannins are fine-grained, and the palate reveals flavors of sweet spices and dark chocolate."

El Nido, Clio's Big Brother, is the flagship wine of the Bodegas El Nido winery. Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Monastrel, El Nido is a powerful, ripe and concentrated red. Only the finest grapes are selected for the El Nido bottling - and it shows. With dark blackberry, blueberry, cassis and round, ripe tannins, the 2016 El Nido, like prior vintages, is a head turner.
