2017 Domaine de la Campanette, Touraine, Sauvignon Blanc

Sancerre Slayer!

From Napa Valley to New Zealand, Sancerre to Bordeaux, Sauvignon has many expressions.

But for an everyday sipper, a summer backyard bash, last minute company dropping by, or even warm goat cheese atop fresh arugula, this Sauvignon Blanc will please any summertime crowd of all wine levels.

For $16 bucks, we have a Sancerre doppelganger that is from another Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc region, Touraine, which is just up the river from Sancerre.

This stunning Sauvignon Blanc has all of the delicious Sauvignon Blanc qualities that draw people to this zesty grape during the warm weather months:  Fresh, dry citrus notes accompanied by subtle herbaceousness. On the nose, classic lemon-lime, yellow grapefruit and just a hint of gooseberry; on the palate, rewarding and mouthwatering acidity keep you coming for another sip.

Domaine de la Campanette Sauvignon Blanc has a simple elegance about it.

Our recommendation?

Buy it by the case and serve it all summer long.

$15.95 per bottle / $191.40 per case

This is a Sancerre doppelganger, but at half the price. This "Sancerre Slayer" comes from Touraine, a region in the Loire Valley that also produces exceptional Sauvignon Blanc at an amazing price-to-quality ratio. A bit softer in style than a Sancerre, the vines grow on the ancient river (Le Cher) terraces where flint clay and shells make up a majority of the soil. This imparts wonderful mineralilty and allows the classic lemon-lime flavors of the Sauvignon Blanc grape to emerge along with yellow grapefruit and lovely acidity. This is a fantastic alterntaive to Sancerre!
