Hot off the press! Dal Forno's Valpolicella Superiore received a well-deserved 98 points. This is an extremely limited offering from the finest Amarone producer in Italy!
The 2011 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella is an absolute joy to drink. A kaleidoscope of dark berry, cedar, leather, tobacco leaf, clove, fig, cinnamon and earth take over the palate. With broad shouldered fruit and finely grained tannins, the juxtaposition of flavor, structure, richness and finesse will make your toes curl!
Often compared to Quintarelli, Dal Forno is arguably the "King Of The Veneto." With Dal Forno's flagship Amarone fetching $350 per bottle, this Baby Amarone, which is comprised of the same estate fruit but does not experience the full Amarone process, is a relative steal!
Open a bottle; your room will fill with intoxicating aromas of crushed cherry and dried fig. This wine is very approachable and graceful despite its heft. In fact, we highly recommend enjoying some now even though it can cellar for another 10 years.
Decant for 30 minutes and be wowed!
Pair with pungent cheeses or your favorite cut of meat - it will make your filet sing and dance! Even a spicy diavolo sauce pairs ideally with this luscious red.
First come, first served.

Blind Tasted By A Three Judge Panel
"Wonderfully fine-milled, lifted and complex, with perfume-like flavours over a creamy, plush base. It's just astonishing to stick your nose into the glass and find something so alluring, lustrous and enticing; you couldn't not sip after sniffing this. It's concentrated, dense, poised and assured; such a wholly extraordinary wine that it almost seems to come from a different tasting. But what this proves is just what extraordinary results you can achieve with appassimento, and though there are other wines in this tasting which have similar levels of concentration, and perhaps even more fruit intensity, for texture, precision and absolute stylistic assurance, this is hard to beat.
