Bodegas El Nido, El Nido

Big Boy "Clio," El Nido

Few wines ignite as much excitement as a Clio or El Nido release. People clamor for these Spanish superstars from Bodegas El Nido.

This is the new release of the 2015 El Nido, Clio's big brother and the winery's flagship bottling.

While Clio is a blend of mostly Mourvedre and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, El Nido is the reverse: mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Mourvedre. Only the best fruit from the vineyards goes into El Nido.

Over the years, we’ve noted that if El Nido were from Napa Valley, it would easily sell for $250 per bottle. This is some of the best value Cabernet Sauvignon you will enjoy at this price. The Cabernet gives the wine a bit more structure than Clio and the Mourvedre gives this wine Clio’s hallmark silky finish. It is big and rich and, "for those who like this profile, this could very well be the finest vintage of El Nido to date." The Wine Advocate

If you’ve hesitated to pull the trigger on El Nido in the past because of its $120 price, take advantage of this one-day special!

$114.95 per bottle / $1379.40 per case

95 / 100

"The 2015 El Nido is a powerful, ripe and concentrated blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Monastrell aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 23 months....It feels concentrated, powerful and young, but the oak is surprisingly more integrated than in the 2014. As it happens with many wines, this is not for everybody, as it has a marked style, but for those who like this profile, this could very well be the finest vintage of El Nido to date. It can be had with powerful food, but it should be better with a few years in bottle."
