We are delighted by the quality of rosés we've tasted this season, however, a wine like Chateau de Pibarnon reminds us that there are rosés and then there are Bandol rosés. Of these, Chateau de Pibarnon is one of the finest and often referred to as the "Petrus of Bandol."
Centuries-old terraces hand-built by generations have created an amphitheatre of vines from clay and fossil-studded soils, which are similar to those found at Chateau d'Yquem in Sauternes and Chateau Petrus in Pomerol. Pibarnon’s terroir, "a combination of blue marl and limestone, yields a wine that is powerful yet graceful." Eric Asimov, NY Times
Beautifully balanced, Pibarnon is a pairing rosé - one that begs to be enjoyed with anchovies, Roquefort cheese, Asian food, sushi, and charcuterie.
Grapefruits notes, with young strawberry, and raspberry are followed by a touch of spice. The prominence of Mourvedre gives this wine its strong character, balance and complexity. Fruity aromas of white peach, pomegranate and zesty acidity are characteristics of the Cinsault grape. So good, we have it in three sizes:

2015 Chateau de Pibarnon Rosé 375ml
2015 Chateau de Pibarnon Rosé 750ml
2015 Chateau de Pibarnon Rosé 1.5L (Magnum)

For me, rosé is not just a wine for the Summer, but one to be enjoyed throughout the year. Make sure you save some for later in the season when, unfortunately, this wine won't be available!
