Chateau Pesquie, Ventoux Rouge
At $13 bucks, we cannot believe the value of this rich, textured Rhone red!
The 2015 Chateau Pesquie "Terrasses" is a "smoking good red that readers should snatch up by the case." Jeb Dennuck
How could such an inexpensive wine be such a showstopper? You have to taste it to believe it - and we have!
First, the vintage is historic. 2015 across all of Europe (from Bordeaux to Burgundy to Tuscany) experienced an ideal growing season. Wines of all levels from the 2015 vintage are getting a bump in quality with added depth and texture.
This is a fireside sipper and weeknight warrior. When you don't want to open your more collectible Chateauneufs or Cali Cabernets, you can still satisfy the wine lover in you.
Made from mostly Grenache with the balance Syrah, Chateau Pesquie has an intense nose of dark berry spice, cassis and fresh-picked raspberries. It also showcases a little plum, cracked pepper and a terrific hint of rustic texture. Quite food friendly, this Rhone red is easy to pair with pizza and charcuterie to more substantial cuisine of roasts and grilled meats.
Purchase it by the case(s). While supplies last. Enjoy!

"A smoking good 2015 that readers should snatch up is the 2015 Cotes du Ventoux Cuvee des Terrasses, which is 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah that’s aged in a combination of two- to four-year-old barrels and foudres. Medium to full-bodied, polished, silky and with no hard edges, it has classic Southern Rhone notes of Provencal spices, garrigue, licorice and ripe black raspberries. Buy a case and drink bottles over the coming 5-6 years."

"A very ambitious wine with a savory and spicy nose. Full bodied and laden with dark fruits, velvety tannins and a long finish."
