Suavia, Soave Classico
We cannot tell you any better than the winery on how to enjoy this delicious white, so allow me to share their vision: "A wine for flowered terraces and summer nights; a wine for umbrellas and tables on the cobbles of an old illuminated square." If that doesn't tantalize your palate, then maybe its recent accolade will.
Suavia was chosen by Wine Spectator as one of the 100 Greatest Italian Producers, to showcase its wines in the premier event at VINITALY, "OperaWine," in Verona, Italy on April 8, 2017. Why such attention? Well, this is not your father's Soave; rather this is the real deal, the way Soave was meant to be: dense, layered, and yet refreshing. For those Italian white wine lovers who want more oomph than Pinot Grigio can deliver yet still want a familiar flavor profile, Suavia handily delivers - even at a very modest price.
Grown on black volcanic and calcareous soil at an elevation of nearly 1000 feet, this Soave Classico is made of 100% Garganega from extraordinarily low-yielding vineyards. The result is "a ripe and dense Soave with a pretty sweet-and-sour character. Full body, a dense center palate and lots of dried-lemon, apple and pineapple character. A beauty." James Suckling
THE MERCHANT'S MARK
92 / 100
Fresh aromas of apple, pear and almond. Balanced clean minerality and a hint of fresh herb. Crisp and refreshing on the palate, the flavors and aromas build toward a harmonious and lingering finish. Pair with hors d'oeuvres and fresh fish, even young cheeses. It is equally well-suited to summer nights in the backyard with friends or family.
