Would you serve peanut butter without jelly? Macaroni without cheese? Turkey without stuffing?

An oldie, but a goodie, Robert Biale "Black Chicken" is our eighth annual feature of this zesty Zinfandel for Thanksgiving.

If you are not serving Pinot Noir or Beaujolais this Thanksgiving, you are likely opting for the lush warm berry and spice of a Zinfandel.

Wild blackberry, vibrant black cherries, dried fig, pomegranate, dried herb, toasty brown spices, huckleberry, and a touch of pepper engulf the palate in the 2017 Biale Black Chicken Zinfandel.

What does "Black Chicken" refer to?

In the 1930's, the Biales were farmers who grew vegetables and raised chickens. During Prohibition, they became famous for their bootleg Zinfandel. Purchases of produce were often accompanied by clandestine orders for "black chicken," code word for their delicious wine.

A comforting sipper on its own, this fantastic Zinfandel classic will pair with your turkey and any Thanksgiving accoutrements.

Enjoy!
