THE REVIEW

This is an extremely rare Belgian Ale release. ABT 12 "Oak Aged" is the oaked aged, limited edition recipe of the brewery's 100 point ABT 12. Knowing this, we suggest you read quickly:
One of the things that gets us most excited is authenticity. We love soulful and meticulous winemaking. We love distillers that begin as moonshiners and blossom into masters of the malt. We also love the creativity embodied in the master brewers of Belgium.
Brewery St. Bernardus is considered to be one of the greatest breweries in the world. Well known for their history of making exceptional beers (like their ABT 12 which received 100 pts). But once you learn the story of this magical brewery, it is easy to understand why their Belgian ales are so special.
First (for all the beer geeks), all their beers are brewed with their own yeast. They use malts of the highest quality and even the hops come from their own hop field adjacent to the brewery. Second, for 46 years, the St. Bernardus brewery brewed the beers for Westvleteren, which are also highly prized and sought after trappist ales that are almost impossible to find. Third and most important, Bernardus makes some of the most tasty beers ever brewed by man. And if you are a beer lover that has always wanted to try Westvleteren and can’t find it, look no further because St. Bernardus ABT 12 is actually Westvleteren’s recipe..
ABT 12 is a limited edition version of their flagship ale. This small production release (so small in fact that it is not even listed on their website). Berries, fruit and oak are present on the highly aromatic nose. Prunes, plums, figs, nuts and berries fill out the full textured, yet airy palate. This won't be around very long and supplies of this tasty ale are extremely limited. Enjoy!Read More »
